Hephaestus Books represents a new publishing paradigm, allowing disparate content sources to be curated into cohesive, relevant, and informative books. To date, this content has been curated from Wikipedia articles and images under Creative Commons licensing, although as Hephaestus Books continues to increase in scope and dimension, more licensed and public domain content is being added. We believe books such as this represent a new and exciting lexicon in the sharing of human knowledge. This particular book is a collaboration focused on Slovenian culture.

More info: Slovenia’s first book was printed by the Protestant reformer Primož Trubar (1508-1586). It was actually two books, Katekizem (a catechism) and Abecednik, which was published in 1550 in Tübingen, Germany.

Hail Mary

Slovenian girls know that when I came here from England the first thing I wanted to do was get them wet.

So I arranged a series of sporadic extreme weather events with my friend God.

This has made up for the excessively sunny and fair conditions which they have traditionally suffered in this part of the world.

Friday was a religious holiday in Slovenia and Catholics gathered in their churches to cheer the Virgin Mary driving to Heaven to join other famously undead personages including Count Dracula and various zombies.

Meanwhile I was getting a bit bored with regular thunderstorms so I prayed extra hard.

As you can see this brought dramatic results. As Mary’s fat ass penetrated the cloud layer releasing spectacular discharges, several hours of classic Hammer horror lightning culminated in a massive hailstorm of ice the size of cricket balls, and roof tiles.

Afterwards, grief-stricken car owners crunched through town, pulverising the debris into this apocalyptic jamrag effect….a sort of municipal Catholic heaven.
