Well, I suppose this is cheating as I actually haven’t read the book. However, as a Slovenian by background who will be returning there next year, this is one book I most definitely will be picking up after reading the above reviews. Though as for ‘Slovenija’ – you have to see it to believe it. Na Svidenje!

If this third edition of Lonely Planet Slovenia is anything like the first, it warrants a complete overhaul of the section entitled “WW II & the Partisan Struggle. ” Much misinformation has been disseminated since the end of that war, and only recently has the truth emerged concerning the true patriots of Slovenia. It is obvious that the author was given false and outdated information, and he therefore unwittingly perpetuates the myth of the Slovenian “collaborators. ”

I am a 18 year-old slovenian girl and live in Augsburg/Germany since birth. Next year I am going to live in Slovenia and study law there. I love my country! It’s really wonderful and I recommend it to everyone on this world! Come to Slovenia and experience!

We honeymooned in Slovenia in June, 1998. Our hostess in Bled let us borrow her copy of this book when we went camping at Lake Bohinj. The phrases contained in it helped us to chat with friendly Slovenians. We highly recommend Slovenia and would use this book again and again!

Well written and conceived. The brief history was helpful to help understand the people and the circumstances of the people today. The diet section was great. In describing the various geographic areas of the country I would have liked more pictures. The written explanations were great but never having been to the country, more pictures would have helped. I think it would be a great addition if there were internet video links to get a really good feel for the geography.
